3x more applications per vacancy
With this change we have received 3x more applications for an open vacancy:
I have been busy lately implementing our recruitment marketing method at companies. And I see time and time again they make the same mistake that can easily be fixed.
Most candidates who see a vacancy already have a job and a busy life. It takes time to tailor a motivation letter to your vacancy, which is why many potential candidates drop out before applying. We have removed the request for a motivation letter from a number of vacancies, and we see 3x more applicants each time.
You may now be wondering: “But how do I know whether people are qualified and motivated without a resume and motivation letter?”
We have developed the following for this:
- Instead of a CV and motivation letter, ask everyone interested in the vacancy to answer a number of selection questions.
- Because everyone answers in the same format, it takes less effort to select the best candidates. As an additional advantage, you do not have to read and compare all CVs and motivation letters. And don't use credits from your ATS.
- You then call for 10 minutes with the candidates who have answered the selection questions correctly. You use this conversation to further segment and invite the very best for a physical conversation.
- If it is necessary for your recruitment process, you can always ask these people for their CV and motivation letter at that time.
This method saves you time and yields significantly more applicants. The more applicants, the higher the chance of finding the right candidate.
