Do you also suffer from a tight labor market?
We increased our candidate pool by more than 400% in one day by reaching latent job seekers.
According to the most current quarterly figures from Statistics Netherlands (Central Bureau of Statistics), approximately 10.4% of the working population is actively looking for a new job (3.5% unemployed + 7.1% employed).
However, various studies by Intelligence Group and &Work, for example, show that approximately 48% of workers are latently looking for a new job. They want to consider it best when a new opportunity presents itself. That is at least 4 times as large a group of potential candidates for a vacancy.
The problem is that this 48% does not actively search for vacancies on job boards for a new job. So if you post your vacancy there, they won't see it either.
You have a number of options to reach this latent job seeker:
- Personal approach as recruiters often do. This can be effective, but is very labor intensive. You have to continuously search, send messages and call back.
- Networking and referrals as large corporates often do. You ask your current employees for recommendations and offer referral bonuses. This can work if you already have many motivated employees.
- Or you do what we did. You reach the latent job seeker in your industry via social media, such as Facebook and Instagram.
This is how you go about it:
According to the latest data from Newcom Research, Facebook and Instagram have 7 million and 5 million daily users in the Netherlands, respectively. These numbers contain almost the majority of our workforce.
By using the advertising and targeting options on these platforms, you can bring your vacancy to the attention of at least 4x as many potential candidates who would otherwise not have even seen the vacancy.
Another additional advantage is that you do not have to compete with vacancies from other companies on, for example, job boards or recruiters with multiple clients in the same industry.
It is only your vacancy, which is seen by thousands of potential candidates.
By making smart use of social media, you can easily and effectively increase your candidate pool and attract the right people for your open vacancies.
Are you curious whether this could also work for your vacancy? Contact us and we will see together whether your vacancy is suitable for this method.
